Auntie Val's cook in the fridge Chocolate Dessert

227g/8oz Digestive Biscuits
227g/8oz Auntie Val's Special Preserve
57g/2oz Caster Sugar
227g/8oz Plain Chocolate
1 Lrg/2 Sml Eggs
170g/6oz Butter or Marg

Crush the biscuits finely and mix together with Auntie Val's Special Preserve.
Put the Chocolate, Butter, Sugar and Eggs into a bowl over warm water and heat. Stir gently until the Chocolate has melted & the mixture is smooth. Stir into the Biscuit crumb & Auntie Val's Mixture. When well blended put into a greased 18cm/7in cake tin with loose bottom and chill in the fridge

Auntie Val's
Special Preserve Cake

113g/4oz butter or margarine
113g/4oz brown sugar
3 large eggs
175g/7oz self-raising flour
340g/12oz Sussex Special  Preserve
4 tablespoons milk

Grease and 18-20cm/8inch cake tin
Cream butter and sugar well
Beat in the eggs, one at a time, if it begins to curdle add some flour.
Stir in Auntie Val's Special  Preserve and fold in the flour, add the milk if needed to obtain a moist mixture
Bake in a moderate oven Gas Mark 3/160c/325F for 10 minutes, then turn down to Gas Mark 2/150c/300F and cook for 1 hour and test, if not cooked leave for a further 5 minutes.
